The mantis shrimp Lysiosquillina lisa has a hunting technique similar to that of the mantids from the insect kingdom. Its second pair of limbs folds up (when calm), but upon spotting prey, they "shoot" out with incredible speed (about 11 meters per second) and literally pierce the target.
